Pro Tips for the Best Coconut Matcha Cloud
- Work quickly with the marshmallow as it sets fast once melted. Spread it around the rim straight away, using a wet spoon or fingertip to stop it sticking.
- Don't over-whip the cream. You want a soft, pourable foam that floats, not stiff peaks.
- Use chilled coconut water for the most refreshing result and a cleaner layered effect.
- Pour the cream slowly over the back of a spoon for a beautifully defined cloud on top.
FAQs
1. Can I make this dairy-free?
Yes! Swap the thickened cream for a whippable plant-based cream; such as a coconut or oat-based one.
2. Can I use a different sweetener?
Absolutely. Honey, agave, or a simple syrup all work well in place of maple syrup. Adjust to taste.
3. Do I need a frother stick?
A frother stick gives the lightest, airiest foam, but a small whisk or handheld milk frother will also work.
4. Can I toast the marshmallows?
Yes, a quick pass with a kitchen torch gives the rim and the extra marshmallows a lovely toasted, campfire flavour.
