Our Genmaicha is a masterful blend of premium green tea stems (Karigane) and roasted whole brown rice (Genmai), creating a smooth, refreshing flavour with a toasty, full-bodied aroma. The result is a soothing cup with a gentle fragrance that makes it ideal for everyday enjoyment.

The use of unpolished brown rice adds natural richness, packed with vitamins B and E, while the green tea contributes vitamin C and essential minerals – making it as nourishing as it is flavourful.

Steeping Suggestions

• Water temperature: 80-85°C 
• Amount: 1 tsp (approx. 2g) per 120ml of water
• Steep time: 60-90 seconds
  

Tip: Slightly higher temperatures help release the toasty, nutty aroma of the roasted rice while preserving the smoothness of the green tea. Avoid oversteeping to prevent bitterness.

Sencha vs Matcha

Though both are Japanese green teas, Genmaicha and Matcha offer completely different experiences – in both flavour and preparation.

Genmaicha is a loose leaf blend of steamed green tea and roasted brown rice. It’s steeped, not whisked, and delivers a toasty, nutty flavour with gentle sweetness and low bitterness. Naturally lower in caffeine, it’s ideal for all-day sipping and cozy moments.

Matcha is a stone-ground powder made from shade-grown leaves, traditionally whisked with water. It offers a richer, creamier flavour with pronounced umami and higher caffeine, since you consume the whole leaf.
