Description

The difference between a good matcha and a great one often comes down to precision. Too much and the flavour tips bitter. Too little and the cup falls flat. This scoop takes the guesswork out entirely — and keeps your bench or counter clean while it does.

Scoop your powder directly from the tin, slide the built-in levelling edge across the top to remove excess in one clean motion, flip, and pour straight into your bowl or shaker through the funnel-shaped opening. No tapping, no spillage, no powder scattered across the bench. Just the right amount, every time.

How to Use

Three steps. One hand. Zero mess.

Scoop Dip the scoop directly into your tin or pouch and fill generously. No need to be precise at this stage — the levelling edge handles that.

Level Slide the built-in levelling edge across the top of the scoop in one smooth motion. Excess powder falls back into the container — not onto the bench.

Pour Flip the scoop and pour directly through the funnel opening into your bowl, shaker bottle, or mixing bowl. The funnel directs every grain exactly where you need it — none lost to the sides.

For matcha specifically Use 1 level scoop (approximately 2g) for usucha. Use 2 level scoops for koicha or a matcha latte. The consistent dose means your cup tastes the same every morning — which is exactly the point of a good ritual.

FAQs

How much matcha does one level scoop measure? One level scoop measures approximately 2g — the standard amount for usucha (thin tea). For koicha or a matcha latte, use two level scoops (approximately 4g). The capacity is up to 2 tablespoons (30ml) total.

Is it suitable for matcha powder specifically? Yes — it works beautifully with fine powders like matcha. The funnel opening directs finely milled powder cleanly into a matcha bowl without scattering. It also works with our Ube Powder and Blue Butterfly Pea Powder.

Can I use it with liquids? No — this scoop is designed for dry ingredients only. The levelling mechanism relies on the ingredient being able to be scraped cleanly, which doesn't work with liquids.

How do I clean it? A quick rinse under warm water is all it needs. The smooth polypropylene surface doesn't hold powder residue. Allow to dry fully before storing near your matcha to avoid any moisture transfer.

How is this different from the Measuring Spoon (Stainless Steel)? They solve different problems. The Stainless Steel Measuring Spoon is the classic ceremonial tool — precise, beautiful, deliberate. The Self-Leveling Funnel Scoop is the daily-use workhorse — faster, cleaner, and mess-free. Most of our customers end up using both.

Is it BPA-free? Yes. Made from food-safe polypropylene (PP) — naturally BPA-free and widely used in food contact products.
